Here you will find historical events related to our effort to get proactive Beekeeping Ordinances on the books in Romulus, Michigan.
March 2012 - Investigation into existing City Code of Ordinances related to small animals, chickens, and bees.
December 2012 - Discussion, planning, and information gathering
February 2013 - City of Romulus Clerk's Office contacted regarding desire to petition for ordinance amendment. Result: Deferred to Zoning Department. City planner requests information for presentation to Planning Commission
March 4th, 2013 - Draft Ordinance Amendment/Modification proposal submitted to City Planner. Result: Proposal entered in non-agenda portion of meeting to be scheduled for future date.
March 18th, 2013 - Appearance at Planning Commission meeting. Result: Presentation of Bee Education PowerPoint. Positive reception and recommendation to keep Commission and City council apprised as revision of current City Ordinances are undertaken and consideration of Beekeeping becomes considered for inclusion.
March 19th, 2013 - This website is created to provide information to the public related to our efforts.
